Dwight Wayne Dorsey, age 64 of Shoal Creek, Cleveland Ga. passed away at his home residence on Sunday February 9th, 2025.
Wayne was born in Spalding County in Griffin, Ga on August 26th, 1960. He moved to Cleveland, Ga when he was in middle school in the 70’s and remained there until his death.
He went to White County High School and Honda Motorcycle School.
He was preceded in death by his mother Eula Mae Boggs of Cleveland, Ga and father, Billy Franklin Dorsey of Cleveland, GA, stepson, Brandon Young of Cleveland, Ga. His brother Michael Dorsey of Cleveland, GA and nephew, Blaine Dorsey of Cleveland, Ga. And his great niece and dear friend Michalea Torres Gailey.
Surviving Wayne is his sister, Billie Rae Thomas of Cleveland, GA, Dan Dorsey of Sylvester, GA and Lydia Faye Dorsey Dame of Habersham County. His daughter, Chelsey Ferguson Thompson of Cleveland, GA, Grandson, Landon Broom of Cleveland, Ga and 3 more grandchildren.
Also surviving is his Godson, Brynn Thomspon of Atlanta, Ga. Debbie Dorsey, niece, Tanya Dorsey, niece, both from Cleveland, GA, Danny Dorsey nephew of Stockbridge, Ga, Rhonda Preston of Atlanta, Ga. and many other loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, cousins and Aunts and Uncles around Griffin, Ga and Cleveland, GA.
He worked for Simco Interiors, Inc. in the 80’s and 90’s and was proud of his work and loved the crew he worked with. He moved on to work at Cape’s Motorcycles in Rabbittown, Ga and Gainesville Motorsports before retiring for health reasons in 2005.
Wayne was known for his love for Fast Cars and his crazy riding skills on 4-wheelers and Sea Doo’s. He was a master motorcycle, Sea Doo and car mechanic and could crank a 2-stroke motor bike like nobody’s business. He raced go carts for many years and won many races and trophies.
He was an Earnhardt fan through and through and loved Chase Elliott as of late. He followed the Nascar circuit and could tell you what happened at every Nascar race back to 1970, who won, how many laps was led, and who to bet on!
As a hobby, he mastered building model cars. His specialties were old school Nascar and late model muscle cars. He loved his Chevy! He enjoyed in his later life spending time with his grandson and building the cars together and passing on his craft.
He was a superior pool player and thought all young men should skip school from time to time and play a game of pool. He also loved to trout fish and camp.
Wayne loved his family with all his heart.
Wayne believed in the lord and always looked forward to the reunion with his family in heaven and meeting his savior. He lived life fast and hard. He always had a smile on his face and a story to tell.
