Nettie Lee Roessner Obituary

Early morning, February 4, 2025, Nettie Lee Henson Roessner, age 95, left her earthly home to join her beloved late husband, Robert Vincent, in their heavenly home.

Nettie, born on March 4, 1929, in Randolph County, GA was the daughter of the late John Wesley and Arrey Lou Boyd Henson. She is survived by brothers David P. Henson of Mableton, GA, and Larry K. Henson and sister Carolyn H. Gaspard, both of Jacksonville, FL. Also surviving is her sister-in-law, Mary Ann Roessner Jones of Cranford, NJ. Siblings Madeline H. Daniels, Laura H. Vanzant, and John W. Henson, Jr. preceded her in death.

Although she never had children of her own, her two poodles, Parfait and Frosty, were like children to her. She is survived by 20 plus nieces and nephews and a special long-time friend, John Giancola, all of whom loved her very much. The Roessner couple lived on Baltusrol Way in Springfield, NJ until failing health took them in 2023 to Sunrise Senior Living in Westfield, NJ. After her husband’s death, nieces Lydia D. Park, Brenda D. Harrington, and nephew Harold Daniels moved her in 2023 to Gainesville, GA to take care of her until her death. Family and friends will never forget her infectious laugh and the happy memories shared.

Nettie moved from GA in 1959 to NJ at the age of 30, where she continued her banking career at the Port Authority and Chase Manhattan Bank in NYC. She retired as bank manager at the Crestmont Savings and Loan in Springfield, NJ, where she met her husband of 56 years.

An active member of St. James Catholic Church for many years, Nettie held numerous volunteer jobs, including ensuring that the vestments were in pristine condition. As a past president of Springfield Women’s Club, she spearheaded numerous service projects, each a reflection of her compassion and desire to help others.

Interment will be in Short Hills Cemetery, Milburn, NJ under the direction of Little-Davenport in Gainesville, GA and Galante Funeral Home in Union, NJ.
