Bonita Lea Wallace McKim, age 81, of Cornelia, Georgia passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025.
Bonita was born May 4, 1943 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota to the late Harold William Wallace and the late Gladys Julie Pellinen. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Matthew Folden in 1970. and the recent death of her brother, Brent Wallace, of New Port Richey, Florida on December 16, 2024.
Bonita retired from Georgia Department of Corrections at Lee Arrendale State Prison, where she worked as a Correction Officer and Counselor. Bonita’s hobbies were creating miniature dolls and making and decorating miniature doll houses, and traveling with her husband around the country. She loved our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, and her faith is what gave her strength through her battle with her illness. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cornelia until her health declined.
Bonita is survived by her husband, Robert L McKim Sr., of Cornelia; and five children and their spouses, Julie Bon (Eric) of Cornelia; Michael Folden (Tami), of Jacksonville, FL; Robby McKim (Oriska), of Blairsville; Kimberly Lowey (Doug), of Fort Walton Beach, FL; and Sean McKim (Julie), of New Port Richey, FL; twelve grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel with Rev. Andy Chambers officiating. Interment will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at the funeral home.
