Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Issac Lamar Abernathy, age 75, of Maysville, Georgia who entered rest Wednesday, January 29, 2025. Mr. Abernathy was born in Cartersville, Georgia the son of the late Issac Abernathy and the late Ethel Wiley Waldron. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Jean Burch Abernathy, daughter, Angela Denise Abernathy, grandson, Jack Collier and a brother, Butch Abernathy.
Mr. Abernathy worked as a sheetrock hanger in the construction business. He loved to fish, collecting old knives, old cars and was of the Baptist Faith. Most of all he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Jean Reyes of Norcross, GA and Lisa Ann Stiwinter of Gillsville, GA. Six grandchildren, Tiffany Black, Nicholas Daily, Vernoica Daily, Blake Abernathy, Ryder Abernathy and Breanna Petty John. Thirteen great grandchildren. Four sisters, Arlene Smith of Jefferson, GA, Darlene Reeves of Banks Co.,GA, Tammy Hightower of Nicholson, GA and Sue Gazaway of Banks Co., GA. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In accordance with Mr. Abernathy’s wishes, he will be cremated and his cremains along with his wife cremains will be interred at Evans Memory Gardens at a later date.
