Margaret Ann Merck, 84 of Gainesville passed away Sunday January 26, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
A lifelong resident of Hall County, Mrs. Merck was the daughter of the late Pat and Willie Mae Emmett England. She retired from the Hall County School System where she had worked in the lunchroom at Chestnut Mountain Elementary School for a number of years. Mrs. Merck was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
Margaret was a devoted wife, loved supporting her children, grandchildren, and great grandson. She loved the Lord, loved cooking, keeping the house, being with the family and friends. She also loved gospel hymns, and listening to Bluegrass music. Mrs. Merck was loved by all who knew her, and she will be dearly missed.
Mrs. Merck is survived by her husband of 66 years, Joe Merck, Gainesville, son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Jeanine Merck, Gainesville, daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Michael Cecil, Henrietta, Texas, grandchildren, Braden Cecil, Kaitlyn Lang (Thor), Dustin Merck, great grandson, Braysen Virgos, sister, Modane Stover, Gainesville, brother and sister-in-law, Hartwell and Mary Lou England, Murrayville. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Friday January 31, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday January 30 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
