Benita Blackwell

Benita Blackwell, 58, of Dawsonville passed away Monday, January 27, 2025 at her residence.

Born March 2, 1966 in Ft. Polk, Louisiana to the late Joe and Jessie Weber, she had lived in Dawson County for over 30 years having moved from Swords Creek, Virginia.  Benita retired from Northside Forsyth Hospital as and L.P.N. and was formerly employed by Tyson Foods as the company nurse.  She was very involved with the youth group at the Swords Creek Community Baptist Church where she was a member.  She enjoyed playing Bingo and spending time with her family, friends, and fur babies.  Also preceding her in death was her mother in law, Sybil Blackwell; sisters, Juliena Weber, Tampa Kay Hubbard, Sonya Seawright; and brother in law, Buford Seawright.

Surviving are her husband of 27 years, Denny Blackwell, Dawsonville; children, Jamie and Kaitlynn Blackwell, Blairsville, Justin Blackwell, Cumming, Amanda and Andrew Dickerson, Cumming, Bryan Blackwell, Dawsonville; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Linda Hubbard, Dawsonville, Monica Stanley, Honaker, VA; special sister and brother in law, Kathy and J. J. Price, Swords Creek, VA; father in law, J. C. Blackwell, Dawsonville; brothers in law and sister in law, Clint and Sonya Blackwell, Ball Ground, Bill Blackwell and Michael Barber, Cartersville; nieces, Ashley Blackwell, Jessie and Hank Keen; nephews, Joey and Alyssa Stanley, Gene and Jade Stanley; great niece, Eliahna Stanley; great nephew, Ezra Stanley.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 30, 2025 at 2 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel.  Rev. Scott Day, Rev. Jamie Peels, and Priscilla Pruitt will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 until 8 at the funeral home.
