Bettye Jo Bryan Campbell

Obituary Date: Saturday, January 25, 2025

Bettye Jo Bryan Campbell, 85, of Hoschton, Georgia, died peacefully at home and surrounded by family on January 25, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Caine Campbell, whom she married on June 10, 1961, and her parents, Joe E. and Hazel (Wiley) Bryan, of West Point, Mississippi.

She was born in West Point, Mississippi, on June 8, 1939. Bettye graduated from West Point High School in 1957, and in 1961, she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from Mississippi State College for Women, where she was a member of the Mam’selle Social Club. Bettye later graduated with a Master’s degree in library sciences from Auburn University.

Bettye was a member of Jefferson First United Methodist Church, in Jefferson, Georgia, where she was involved with the Altar Guild and the United Methodist Women, Ruth Circle. She also had been a member of Pilot Club Jefferson and the Humane Society of Jackson County. In addition, she occasionally volunteered with the Jefferson Library. 

She is survived by her daughters, Cathy Campbell Jordan (Tom), Buford, Georgia, and Roxane Campbell, Hoschton, Georgia; one grandson, Campbell Von Jordan, Buford; two brothers, Ed Bryan (Marge), Allen, Texas; and Tommy (Barbara) Bryan, West Point, Mississippi; two nieces, Missy Bryan Kocher (Jeff), Frisco, Texas; and Nancy Bryan-Ellison (Hunter), Allen, Texas; a great-nephew, Kyler Kocher, Dallas, Texas; and a great-niece, Kelsey Kocher, New York City; and her beloved Doberman Pinscher, Rosie. She also was a grandmother figure to Jesus Medrano, Lawrenceville, and Carlos Medrano, Cumming. 

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to her caregiver, Suzy Abernethy and her family, as well as the hospice nurses.

Bettye Jo was known for the bow she always wore in her hair. She had countless bows in her possession to ensure the one she was wearing matched her outfit and the season. The bow represented her individuality and embodied her uniqueness and free spirit.

The memorial service is set for Tuesday, January 28, at 2 p.m. at Jefferson First United Methodist Church with visitation and a reception to follow in the church’s Fellowship Hall. The service will be officiated by Pastor Brian Funderburke. Funeral arrangements will be handled by Braselton Funeral Home.
