David Garner Rollow, beloved husband, father, and devoted grandfather, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2025 in Braselton, GA, at the age of 81, surrounded by family and his best friend, John Fine. He was born on September 29, 1943, in Lawton, OK, to Archie Garner Rollow, Jr and Peggy Eason Rollow.
Dave lived a life filled with passion, dedication, and love. He was interested in electronics at an early age, and built his own radios. He received his Ham Radio License at the age of 16, and was part of a group of operators who connected families with their loved ones during natural disasters. He graduated from Northwest Classen High School in 1962 in Oklahoma City, OK and attended the University of Oklahoma. He moved to Savannah, GA in 1970 to work for a radio station. He later pursued his passion for cars as a mechanic. Dave moved to the Atlanta area in 1982 and married the love of his life, Sharon, in 1983. He retired as an Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Master Certified Mercedes-Benz mechanic, a profession he excelled in and took great pride in throughout his career.
A lifelong enthusiast of car racing, Dave was heavily involved in the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). He found great joy in the camaraderie, competition, and challenges of the sport. Whether he was behind the wheel as a competitor, or supporting his fellow racers and volunteers, his commitment to the racing community was unwavering. and inspired all who knew him. He was a champion Autocrosser, Divisional Rallyist, and raced a Renault R5 in SS and competed in a Formula Vee. Over the years, he served as an Assistant Regional Executive, Treasurer, Flag Chief, Safety Administrator for the Southeast Division, National Chief Steward, and Series Chief Steward. Dave’s contributions were recognized with several awards from the SCCA, reflecting the high regard in which he was held by his peers.
Dave deeply enjoyed his family and friends. He was a talented grill master, famous for his legendary "Dave" burgers, which were a highlight of every gathering. His grandchildren brought him great joy, and he enjoyed attending their activities, walking in the park, and traveling with them. He and Sharon shared a passion for exploring the country, fulfilling their dream of visiting all 50 states together. Their adventures were a testament to their love of learning, new experiences, and shared memories. Dave’s wit, wisdom, and enthusiasm for life will be deeply missed.
Dave is survived by his devoted wife of many years, Sharon Rollow; his daughters, Melissa Norris and Shelley Keith; his cherished grandchildren, Liam Norris, Cassandra Norris, and Amelia-Rose Norris; his sister, Becky Grigsby and his brother, Alan Rollow.
