James Alan “Jim” DeMoss was born September 22, 1940 and passed from this life into an eternal life of best days on January 22, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Clay and Sallie Steele DeMoss, and by all five of his siblings: brothers Forrest, Don, and David DeMoss and sisters Virginia Corbin and Elaine Trimble. James was also welcomed into heaven by his brother-in-law and life-long friend, Bobby Trimble, and by his granddaughter, Mary- Gemma Henderson.
James is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Diane Davis DeMoss, and their three children and spouses: Lisa and Brad Henderson of Richardson, TX, Scott and Leanne DeMoss of Lithia Springs, GA and Je? and Jane DeMoss of Dawsonville, GA. James was a fun Grandpa who loved to tease and roughhouse with his many grandchildren: Max (Laura) Henderson; Tory (Zane) Parsley; Zane (Jess) Henderson; Peter, Eliza, Lucy, Jed, Zara, and Hudson Henderson; Jordan (Rob) Walden; Riley (Justin) Kozlowski; and Brock, Zachary, and Emily DeMoss. He was also blessed with ten (so far!) great-grandchildren: Jensen, Wyatt, Addalyn, Oliver James, Elleanor, Amelia, Lazarus, Ulysses, Magdalena, and Annie. James also left behind brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews all across the country that he loved and enjoyed.
Like his mother, James never met a stranger and always had something kind or funny to say to those he met. He loved the outdoors and God’s creation and his happy place was beside a lake with a fishing pole in his hand. He enjoyed traveling and he and his family lived for eight years in Colorado, where he learned to enjoy Colorado “Spanish” food. He also enjoyed bowling, music of all kinds, working in the garden, and reading stories of adventure and wildlife. Having lost his father at a young age, James delighted in being a child of God and was anxious to share the good news of Jesus with those he met. While we miss the twinkle in his blue eyes, his warm hugs, and the way he made us laugh, we’re happy that he is home with those he loved who preceded him, and most of all, with his Father in heaven.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 25, 2025 at 2:30 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Brad L. Henderson will officiate and interment will follow in Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.
