Sandra "Cokie" Grimes

Sandra “Cokie” Grimes was born August 20th 1964 in Royston, Georgia to the late Jimmie C. Jones and the late Jo Evelyn Jones. On Friday January 17, 2025, she entered into eternal rest. She was preceded in death by her parents the late Jimmie C Jones and Jo Evelyn Jones.

Sandra attended Franklin County Public School System and graduated high school in 1982. Later, she went on to attend North Georgia Technical College where she obtained a degree in accounting. After obtaining her degree in accounting, she relocated to Milledgeville, Ga and started a family. During her time in Milledgeville, she worked for the Department of Corrections and YDC. She later relocated to Athens, Ga and continued her career with the State of Georgia as an accountant at Advantage Behavioral and Health Systems. In 2011, she met her loving and caring husband James and moved to Colbert, GA. In 2019, she left the State of Georgia and began working for Chambers and Kubeck. Sandra had a love for reading, spending time with her family, trying new recipes, and traveling with her girls.

She leaves behind her loving husband, James Grimes; daughters, Chelsea Johnson and Aleshia Johnson; step daughters, Brooke Munson and Ashley Jurica; step son, Andrew Grimes; granddaughter, Kaylee Lindsey; siblings; Phyllis (Joseph) Christian, Jimmy (Gwenette) Jones, Sabrina Jones, and Amanda Jones; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Monday January 27, 2025 at 1pm at St. Mary’s CME Church. Burial will be in Brown Grove Cemetery. Viewing will be Sunday January 26, 2025 from 2pm-5pm. Dexter T. Sims Mortuary, LLC, Royston, has charge of arrangements.
