Mr. Sammy Eugene Evans

Mr. Sammy Eugene Evans, 70, of Oakwood, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m.  Friday, January 24, 2025 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will be in Mercy Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home Thursday, January 23, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Born on June 27, 1954 in Gainesville, he was the son of the late Jessie James Evans and the late Rona Bell Timms Evans. He was retired from Crystal Farms where he was a supervisor. Mr. Evans was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his sisters, Jesse Evans, Annie Walden, Mildred Passmore and brother, Thomas Evans.

Mr. Evans is survived by his wife, Irene Evans of Oakwood; daughter, Tina Evans of Oakwood; daughter and son in law, Melinda Young (Perry Young, Jr.); 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Audrey Hicks of Loganville, Bobbie Gaddis (Lewis) of Anderson, SC, Mary Ellis (Mike) of Abilene, TX, Polly Davison pf San Antonio, TX, Juanita Grizzle of Gainesville; brothers, C.T. Evans (Fern) of Chestnut Mountain, Harold Evans (Barbara) of Gainesville and a number of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
