It is with deep sorrow and gratitude that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Gaye Hicks, who went to be with the Lord on January 16th, 2025, at the age of 82. She was a woman of unwavering faith, compassion, and love, leaving a legacy that would continue to inspire all who knew her.
Born on November 30, 1942, in Gainesville, Georgia. Gaye was a devoted follower of Christ and an active member of Murrayville Baptist and a longtime member of various churches over the years. Her life was a testament to her strong faith, as she lived by the principles of love, grace, and service. A prayer warrior, she was known for her deep spiritual wisdom and the way she nurtured and supported those around her.
As a grandmother, Gaye was a source of immense love and guidance. She cherished her family and took great joy in watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow in their faith and lives. Her home was a place of refuge, comfort, and warmth, and her words of encouragement will continue to echo in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Jack Hicks, parents V.J. and Jeanne Vaughan, brothers, Bill and Bobby Vaughan, and sister Patsy Carpenter. She leaves behind her sons Rob (Georgiann) Hicks and Joe (Emily) Hicks, grandchildren Sheree (Jeremy), Shay (Logan), Bailey, Bennett, and Blakely, great-grandchildren Annielee, Paisley, Berklee, Deacon, and Chezlee, who will forever carry her memory in their hearts. Sister, Kathye (Chuck), brother-in-law, Phil, and sister-in-law, Jennie Sue. Along with a host of extended family, friends, and members of her church community.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at W.R. Strickland and Sons Funeral Home on Monday, January 20th, 2025. Visitation from 11:00 - 2:00, service to follow at 2:30. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Eagle Ranch or St. Jude's in her honor.
We take comfort in knowing that Gaye is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior, reunited with loved ones who have gone before her. Her legacy of faith, love, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. W. R. Strickland & Sons, Clermont, Ga.
