Frankie E. Tate Strickland

Obituary Date: Monday, January 6, 2025

Frankie E. Tate Strickland was born September 23, 1944 in Gainesville, GA to the late George “Bill” and Mary Alice Tate. Frankie quietly entered into eternal rest Monday, January 6, 2025 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness. Frankie attended Fair Street School and later received her GED from Gainesville Adult Learning Center. She was employed in the poultry industry most of her adult life. She was later employed by Chicopee Manufacturing Company until her retirement. Frankie had a heart of Gold. She said what she meant and meant what she said. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, seeing, and working in the church. She was a loyal member of Saint John Baptist Church where she served on the Senior Usher Board, cooked in the kitchen and sang with the Angelic Voices Choir. After the closing of Saint John’s Soup Kitchen, Frankie started working at Hickory Grove CME Church Kitchen and sang in the choir. Frankie loved to sing shape notes following the footsteps of her father and aunt Lillian Sutton. Frankie sang with the Class of “82” and Class of “83” and the Northeast Georgia Note Singers. Frankie was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Certus Strickland; parents, grandparents, James and Lena Harris, sisters: Shaaron Jones, Katheryn Obrien Burton; brothers: Charles E. Tate, and Grady Singleton Sr. She leaves to cherish her memories two sons Curtis “Celeste” Strickland, James Strickland, daughter Earthen A.(Michael Hendrix) Finch; goddaughter Selena Young; grandchildren: Kayla Strickland, Seneca Young, Branson Strickland, Josh Collins, and Monquise Ware, Ava Lotty, Kaydence Morgan all of Gainesville, GA.; great grandchildren Emory Barnett, Jayla Collins, Jamel Barnett, Aveion Young, Deshun Borders, Finesse Boarders, Kashon Borders, Kameyah “Kim” Hendrickson, Brandon Stickland Jr., Amiyan Strickland, Ayden Strickland, and Braydon Strickland; sisters: Mary “Retha” Tate, Millicent Tate, Phyllis Birt; brothers: George Tate, Bentz “BB” (Virginia) Tate. Goddaughter Jackie Hearring and a host of nieces, k nephews other relatives and friends.

 
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Antioch Baptist Church at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Wimberly Funeral Home between the hours of 1:00 PM - 8:00PM. Family will receive friends between the hours of 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
