Etheleen Wallis Gower

Etheleen Wallis Gower, age 76 of Commerce, GA passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, following complications from RSV and pneumonia.

Born on May 21, 1948, Etheleen grew up in Buford, GA where she attended Harmony Elementary School and graduated from North Gwinnett High School in 1966. She continued her education at Gainesville College, Gwinnett College of Business, and the University of Georgia where she pursued her passion for learning and professional growth.

A dedicated and compassionate woman, Etheleen was a member of Sugar Hill Baptist Church, where her faith and service left a lasting impact on her community. She also served as a Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, exemplifying her commitment to leadership and fellowship.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, cherishing her family above all else. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Bonceile Wallis; her sister, Mary Wallis Rape; her sister-in-law, Sara Wallis; and one son, Darryl Gower. She is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Randall A. Gower; two brothers, Ralph Wallis and Royce Wallis; her son, Terry Gower; her grandchildren, Tara (Freddy) Thompson, Kingsley Gower, Forrest (Kristina) Pickard, Chloe Gower, and Landon Gower; and her great grandchildren, Aubrey Thompson, Maddie Thompson, Saylor Gower, Owen Pickard, Sadie Pickard; sister-in-law, Mary Gower; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Etheleen will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and unwavering faith. Her love for family and friends, as well as her dedication to her community, will leave an enduring legacy.

Funeral Services will be held at Flanigan Funeral Home on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. David Pruitt officiating. Interment will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 15 at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Etheleen Gower’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
