Phillip Cheek Toccoa, Georgia
Mr. Phillip McCoy Cheek, age 74 of Merritts Circle, Toccoa passed away Sunday, January 12, 2025 at his residence.
A son of the later Andrew Jackson Cheek and Della Ramey Cheek, he was born September 21, 1950 in Banks County, Georgia having lived most of his life in Stephens County. He was employed with Taylor’s Construction Company and later worked with Mark Wilkinson Lumber for a number of years before his retirement. He was a handyman and could do anything. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Tates Creek Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Jack Cheek, Bobbie Cheek, Zudie Mae Dalton and Doris Lattrell Cheek Grantom.
Survivors include his wife of the home, Velma “Cricket” Roper Cheek; daughter, Faye Cheek (Shelton Lewallen) of Alto Georgia; son, Christopher Cheek of Georgia; grandson, Gunner Jo Cheek; brother, Andrew Cheek of Toccoa; a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be Saturday, February 1, 2025, 2 p.m. at Clearview Baptist Church, 137 Midway Crossing, Cornelia, Georgia 30531 with Brother Keith Chambers officiating.
