Hazel Deaton Williams

Hazel Deaton Williams, age 92, of Buford, Georgia, peacefully passed away at her home on Saturday, January 11, 2025.

Born on January 4, 1933, in Buford, Hazel was the daughter of the late Nathan B. and Grace (Jones) Deaton. She graduated from Buford High School in 1949 and married Jerry Williams on December 7, 1951. Together, they shared a life of love and cherished memories with their children. Hazel worked for the IRS in Chamblee for 31 years before retiring.

In her retirement, Hazel found joy in spending time on her farm, surrounded by her grandchildren and family. She also loved traveling with her close friends, Pat Adams, Barbara Cheek, and others, exploring destinations across the U.S., Canada, and abroad.

A longtime member of Friendship Baptist Church, Hazel also attended Zion Hill Baptist Church in Buford, where her faith was a source of strength throughout her life.

Hazel was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Williams; her parents, Nathan B. and Grace Deaton; her brother and sister-in-law, Hugh (Clarice) Deaton; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Lillian Deaton, Bernice (Hayden) Weaver, Edith (Dan) Morton, and Helen (Edgar) Williams; her in-laws, Cline and Mabel (Puckett) Williams; and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Virgil and Agnes Beacham.

Hazel is survived by her son, Tony Williams (Cheryle); daughter, Tricia Bolian (Charles); grandchildren, Crystal Williams, Nathan Williams, Nicole Williams (Austin Gerstner), Ed Bolian (Megan), and Jeremy Bolian (Samantha); great-grandchildren, Graham Bolian, Grace Bolian, and Elijah Bolian; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Hazel’s dedicated caregivers: Cheryl, Karen, Gail, Jacqueline, Jill, Sandy, Robin, and Rena, for their loving care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Zion Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, the Old Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, or a charity of your choice.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church, Buford, with Rev. Danny Newbern and Dale Jones officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Flanigan’s Funeral Home, Buford, and on Saturday at Zion Hill Baptist Church from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
