Mr. Gary Franklin Sovine, age 70, of Cleveland, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 11, 2025. He was born on August 4, 1954, in Hurricane, West Virginia, to the late Emiza and Mildred Edward Sovine. Mr. Sovine was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Sovine Bird.
Gary was a talented and dedicated self-employed cabinet builder and woodworker and mason, known for his exceptional craftsmanship and skill. The work in his hands is a reflection of his passion for the art of woodworking, and his creations will continue to be cherished for years to come. Gary’s love for nature was reflected in his work, as he often found inspiration in the beauty of the world around him.
A resident of White County since 1990, Gary became an integral part of the community. He cherished the simple joys of life and loved spending time with his family, always putting them first. His warmth, generosity, and kind heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, John and Courtney Sovine, Cleveland, and Josh and Karen Sovine, Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Darci, Bailey, Abigail, Moriah, Destiny, Hope and Cloe; brothers, Ricky Sovine and Bruce Sovine; and many other relatives.
Memorial services are scheduled for 2 P.M. Wednesday, January 15, 2025 from the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. Rev. Mark Gunter will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 Noon until 1:45 P.M. Wednesday.
