Ronnie Sanford Edge

Obituary Date: Wednesday, January 8, 2025

Mr. Ronnie Sanford Edge, age 62, of Oakwood, GA, passed away peacefully in his home on January 8th, 2025 after a long battle with cardiac issues. 

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Zion Hill Baptist Church with interment following at Oakwood City Cemetery.  Rev. Scott Wilson will officiate. The family will receive friends 3:00 – 5:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 15, 2025 and 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.

Ronnie Sanford Edge, or Papa to his grand and great grandkids, was born on January 5th, 1963, to the late Alton Elbert Edge and Jimmie Hallman Edge. Ronnie was known for his service in the wrecker world for almost 50 years with his father's business, Alton Edge Wrecker Services. Besides his devotion to service in the Oakwood and Gainesville area, his loves included dirt track racing, NASCAR, his racing career at Lanier Raceway from 1989-1991, Georgia football, but most importantly and if you asked him, his number one love was his family. He had a love like no other for his wife, Judy Elrod Edge, and though not his own blood, loved her kids and grandchildren/great grandchildren with his whole being. He adored them and would always share pictures and memories of them with everyone he came in contact with. He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Flowery Branch, Ga. Ronnie was preceded in death by his father Alton Edge, his brother Randy Edge, brother-in-law Todd Reeves, nephew Jason Edge, niece Jill Edge.

 

He is also survived by his wife, Judy Elrod Edge of Oakwood; his mother, Jimmie Hallman Edge of Oakwood; siblings: sister, Angie Edge Strickland of Oakwood, sister and brother-in-law, Vicky and Tim Millwood of Hoschton, sister, Lisa McClure Dover of Oakwood, Susan Reeves of Flowery Branch, brother, Ricky Edge of Gainesville; stepchildren: April (Randall) Chambers of Murrayville, Adam (Kaci) Reed of Clermont, and Trista Knapp of Gainesville; his grandchildren: Alyssa (Jacob Williams) Chambers, Kayleigh (Will) Gaddis, Jakoby Reed, Wyatt Chambers, Mason Knapp, Adalyn Reed, and Maddie Evans; and his littlest loves his great grandchildren: Carter, Ellie, Blakelynn and Beckham Williams; and family friend Joel Gahring, along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
