Betty Jo Duncan

Betty Jo Duncan, age 93, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 she was formerly from Buford, GA.  She was preceded in death by Howard Duncan, her loving husband of 71 years; and Renee Duncan, daughter. Her parents, Fred Gilleland, Sr. and Irene Gilleland Christopher and siblings: sister, Ilo Savage and brothers, Ralph Gilleland, Ray Gilleland, and Fred Gilleland, Jr.

She is survived by her children - daughters - Pat Duncan, Guntersville, AL; and Jody Penland, Indian Trail, NC; son -Steve and Janis Duncan, Scottsdale, AZ.  Grandchildren Tara and Joey King, Snead, AL; Brian Duncan, Chicago, IL; Scott Duncan, Scottsdale, AZ; and Brittany Penland, Indian Trail, NC. Great-grandchildren; Will Perry, Decatur, AL; Allison and Breyden Burchell, Florence, AL; Cole Perry and Audra Perry, Snead, AL. One great-greatgrandson - Beau Burchell, Florence, AL.

Jo Duncan was born October 19, 1931, in Birmingham, AL, and grew up in Flowery Branch, GA. Howard and Jo retired from owning and managing D & G Foodland grocery store, in Buford, GA. Jo was a member of Sardis Methodist Church, Buford, GA. Howard and Jo had many wonderful travels to all 50 United States with their best friends, Barbara and Travis Adams.

Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 12, 2025 in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Dr. Bill Coates officiating.  Interment will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens, 5979 New Bethany Road, Buford, GA.
