Duane Robert Brayton, of Flowery Branch, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. He was 64 years old.
Mr. Brayton is survived by his wife, Chris Chapman Brayton, of Flowery Branch; his mother, Carole Brayton, of Loveland, Ohio; a son, Joshua Brayton, of Rome, Georgia (wife Carrie); a stepson, Jason Kirby, of Flowery Branch (wife Jennifer); a stepdaughter, Dana Elizabeth Duncan, of Ware Shoals, South Carolina; a sister, Holly Stewart, of Mason, Ohio (husband Jim); his father-in-law, T. Cecil Walker of Ware Shoals; a sister-in-law, Fran Chapman, of Ware Shoals; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He also had four nieces, three nephews, two great-nieces and two great-nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Carl Brayton.
Mr. Brayton was born in Youngstown, Ohio. In high school, he played basketball and also played trumpet in the band. He attended Miami University (Ohio). He moved to Georgia in his early twenties, where he learned the printing trade and ultimately became president and co-owner of Allied Label Printing Systems, where he worked until his retirement.
He loved bowling, participating in leagues across several states until his retirement. He and his wife Chris, formed Retro Rockets and Silver Star Band, where Duane sang and played drums and Chris was a featured singer. The bands performed in various venues in the Atlanta area for several years.
He was a tremendous animal lover and loved his dogs, Addy and Tigger, as his children. He also enjoyed building Lego puzzles, doing household projects, spending time with friends and family, and supporting his grandchildren in their sporting and other endeavors.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, at Flanigan’s Funeral Home and Crematory in Buford, Georgia. The family will receive friends after the service at 6213 North Star Drive, Flowery Branch, Georgia, 30542.
