Alvin Ronald Gary, 78, died on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville.
A native of Commerce, Mr. Gary, was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Willie Lee Wade Gary, two sisters, Sara Samples and Easter Smith; and his granddaughter, Sarah Grace Myler.
Mr. Gary, called Big A by friends and family, owned a business, Gary’s Septic Tank Service, for over 50 years. He had a strong work ethic and worked until he was in his 70s and had to quit due to health reasons. His favorite role was being Papa to his grandsons, Jake Thomas Myler and Grayson Alvin Myler.
Mr. Gary was a member of Cabin Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Sarah Clark Gary; his daughter, Angela Gary, Commerce; his daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Jacob Myler, Commerce; two grandchildren, Jake Myler and Grayson Myler; and three sisters, Pat Sellers, Peggy Price and Lib Little.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, with the Rev. Stan Hauntsman and Sherry Lewis speaking. Burial will be at Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce.
The family will receive guests at the home of Jacob and Amanda Myler, 87 Millside Court, Commerce.
