Ronald Alvin Dickey

In Loving Memory of Ronald Alvin Dickey July 31, 1936 – December 31, 2024 

 

Braselton, Georgia – Mr. Ronald Alvin Dickey,88, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, in Braselton, Georgia.  

 

Born on July 31, 1936, in St Louis, Missouri.  Ronald served proudly in the US Marine Corps for 8 years before marrying his soulmate, Janice Gwen (Decker) Dickey, in 1958. They lived in Missouri the majority of their married life raising a loving family. Ronald enjoyed a long successful career of 58 years with the Carborundum Company, Standard Oil, and Washington Mills Company. In 2022, he and his wife relocated to Georgia, for continued care with family.  

 

Ronald was an avid fan of the University of Alabama football and the St. Louis Cardinals and supported the numerous college teams where his children and grandchildren attended. He was so proud of all his children's and grandchildren's achievements and was always cheering them on. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, and hunting with family and friends. He and his wife enjoyed traveling in their younger days with friends and created many cherished memories. 

 

Ronald leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Janice Gwen Dickey; his two children, Daniel C. Dickey and his wife Susan, and Jeffrey G. Dickey; his adored grandchildren: Ryan Dickey, Daniel Dickey, Megan Dickey, Beth (Dickey) McCart and her husband Drew, Lauren (Dickey) Jeffords and her husband Andrew, Alexia (Dickey) Mongomery and her husband Alec, and Landon Dickey; his daughter-in-law Mary Kathleen Dickey Cantrell. He was predeceased by his son, Ronald M. Dickey.  He is also survived by his precious great-grandchildren: Abigail McCart, James Daniel “JD” Jeffords, and Reid Jeffords. 

 

Ronald A. Dickey will be remembered as a kind and compassionate man with boundless strength and love. He always wanted to know where you were from as a way to meet and get to know you. His unwavering devotion to family and the joy he brought to everyone around him will live on in the hearts of family and friends who were fortunate to know him. 

 

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Ronald's life on Friday, January 10th at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel, 3481 Hamilton Mill Rd. Buford, GA. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm. Further funeral arrangements will be at Greenlawn Funeral Homes, 3540 East Seminole St, Springfield, Missouri where visitation/service will be held on January 17th at 10 am and he will be laid to rest at the State of Missouri Veterans Cemetery immediately following the service. 

 

In lieu of flowers the family is asking for a donation to be made to the American Diabetes Association OR Wounded Warrior Project.
