Vernon Artist “Big Son” Irvin, Jr.

Mr. Vernon Artist “Big Son” Irvin, Jr.  62, of Gainesville, passed away Friday, January 3, 2025 following a sudden illness.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Monday, January 6, 2025 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Pastor John Kinsey will officiate. Interment will be in Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Sunday, January 5, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Born on January 8, 1962 in Gainesville, he was the son of the late Vernon Artist Irvin, Sr. and Willie Dover Irvin. He was employed with Simpson Trucking for over 15 years.  Mr. Irvin was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Irvin was preceded in death by his daughter, Heather B. Irvin; son, Victor Artist Irvin and nephew, Mason Reed.

Mr. Irvin is survived by his sister and brother in law, Cynthia and Shane Reed of Gainesville; sister, Teresa Kinsey of Gainesville; brother and sister in law, Claud and Trudy Irvin of Gainesville and a number of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
