Sherry Ann Koonce

It is with great sadness that her family announces the passing of their beloved Sherry Ann Koonce, 76, of Dawsonville.

Sherry passed peacefully after a two-year battle with breast cancer surrounded by family at Northside Hospital Forsyth.

Anyone that knew her knew a compassionate, funny, beautiful, loving and caring woman. She devoted her life to raising a family and helping and welcoming anyone she met in her over 76 years.

She is survived by her husband of over 23 years, George Lee Koonce, children Tracy Ann Land, Brian Jarrett (wife Erica), stepchildren Ann Marie Tompkins and Amy Darlene Koonce, brother David O’Neill Manning, sister-in-law Linda Manning along with eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was part of large extended families across Georgia including the Manning, Koonce, Long, and Jarrett families.

She is preceded in death by her parents Ophelia and Raymond Manning, brothers Kenneth and Gary, sister Deborah, sister-in-law Peggy, husbands Larry Verner and Ronnie Long, son-in-law Rickey Land as well as various other close relatives and friends which are too many to mention.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 5, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Danny Ray Martin and Rev. Gary Keown will officiate. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, January 4, 2025 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
