Rita Stevens Edge

Obituary Date: Sunday, December 29, 2024

Rita Stevens Edge, 54, after a courageous battle with Cancer surrounded by family, earned her heavenly reward and found eternal peace in Paradise on Sunday, December 29, 2024.

A native of Clermont, she was a graduate of North Hall High School and was employed at Van Keith Insurance, Dawsonville. She was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church, Gainesville GA. She was devoted to her family as a loving wife, mother, sister, and aunt. Her family was her greatest joy, and she was a constant source of support and inspiration to them.

Rita's grace and strength in the face of life's challenges were truly inspiring. Her kindness and empathy extended far beyond her family, making her a cherished friend to many. She had a way of making everyone feel heard and understood. We will always remember her infectious laugh and her ability to find the silver lining in any situation.

Rita's legacy of love and service will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate to know her. She loved cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs, spending relaxing days at the beach, and exploring new places with her loved ones. She especially enjoyed visiting Saint Augustine.

She will be deeply missed by family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Brent Edge, her first husband Johnny Stevens, and her parents Richard and Marcia Satterfield.

She is survived by her daughters, Callie Stevens Murphy (Brett) and Mallory Edge. Sisters Rachel Adams and Rebecca West (David), Brother Ricky Satterfield. As well as a number of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 4, 2025, from 10:00-12:00 at Antioch United Methodist Church, Truslow Hall, 2922 Antioch Church Road, Gainesville GA 30506.   

A Celebration of Life Service will be held after the visitation in the Sanctuary of Antioch United Methodist Church. Reverend Randy Strickland will officiate the service with special music by Miriam Welling.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the friends and family that helped support and care for her during her illness. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Antioch United Methodist Church, Antioch Campground, or the Gainesville Aid Project.
