Carolyn Chester, 83, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024 at the Lakes at Gainesville following an extended illness.
Carolyn was born on July 9, 1941, in Atlanta, Georgia and was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Bennett and Corine Johnson Bennett. Carol attended Sylvan High School and married her high school sweetheart Samuel Chester (Sammy). They enjoyed many wonderful years together and have 4 children. Greg Chester (Donna), Brad Chester (Lisa), Gwen Hudson (Greg), and Jon Chester (Terri) and 6 grandchildren. Josh Hudson (Chloe), Andrew Chester (Taylor), Brandon Fowler, Blake Hudson (Rebecca), Alexis Jones (Jason), and Ashlyn Melton (Grant), and 6 great grandchildren.
Carol is preceded in death by her brother Robert Bennett and sisters Elizabeth Ford and Flora Cleveland.
Carolyn had a love of singing and was in the choir for many years at Vineville Baptist Church in Macon Georgia. She also sang with the church’s women’s group the V-Notes. Carolyn loved gardening; her and Sammy’s backyard was a sanctuary for plants and animals of all kinds. It was certified by the National Wildlife Federation as an official “Backyard Wildlife Habitat Site”. Carolyn also had a love for roses and had the most beautiful rose garden. She was an honorary Hall County Master Gardner. The family would like to honor her with a memorial in the Spring, when her roses are in full bloom.
