Barbara Buffington

Barbara Buffington was born on May 28, 1956, to the late Franklin Buffington Sr. and Earsell Hendrix Buffington of Gainesville, Georgia. She passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024, at her home.

Barbara received her formal education from East Hall High School where she graduated with Honors. Barbara’s legacy continues with her children. Barbara Buffington aka “Buffy” was employed with Northeast Georgia Medical Center where she was employed for over 45 years. While at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Barbara worked in many roles at the medical center: LPN, Unit Secretary, Medical coder, Supervisor – Medical Coding and Dialysis. During her tenure at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Barbara was the recipient of the Ocie Pope Scholarship.

Pork Rinds and Dr. Pepper were some of Barbara’s favorite foods when watching some of her favorite shows: Cold Justice, First 48, Magnum PI and Jeopardy. Barbara loved traveling, cooking, reading, writing poems, and helping others.

At a young age Barbara was a very active member in the church and a hard worker.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Franklin Buffington Sr. and Earsell Hendrix Buffington. She is survived by her children: Todd Payne, Darion Buffington (Nesha Young), Keshia Buffington, Don Richardson; her grandchildren: Datavian Buffington, Mesyah Buffington, Taliyah Payne, Xyan Buffington, Jamere Richardson, Jeremih Richardson; her siblings: Randolph Buffington (Linda Faye), Phyllis Jackson (Nathan) Franklin Buffington Jr., Gail Buffington, Tracy Buffington (Selena) and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024, at 1:00PM at Wimberly Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at Wimberly Funeral Home between the hours of 6:00 PM -8:00 PM.  Professional Services Entrusted to Wimberly Funeral Home.
