Mr. Ernest Eugene “Gene” Adams, age 83 of Queen Street, Toccoa passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2024 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville.

A son of the late James William Adams and Lottie Jewell McCurley Adams, he was born March 19, 1941 in Stephens County, Georgia where he had lived all his life.  He was a loving son, brother and an uncle to many nieces and nephews.  He was a Christian and had a gentle spirit and personality recognized and loved by those knowing him, as well as those meeting him for the first time.  His friends and family knew him as Gene.  He enjoyed reading, eating good food, watching classic westerns and comedy on TV and being with his family. Gene had worked at Wright’s Manufacturing, Coats and Clark and the Toccoa Cotton Mill in his youth. He was the youngest of six brothers and sisters. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Lucius Adams and by his sisters, Ruby Adams King of Toccoa, Edna Adams Miller of Marietta and Virginia Christine Adams Cheek of Anderson, South Carolina.

Survivors include his brother, David Adams of Marietta, Georgia; a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Monday, December 30, 2024, 11:30 a.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Jerrell Beatty officiating. 

The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Monday from 10:30 a.m. until the service time.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.

Interment will follow in the Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Ernest Eugene “Gene” Adams.
