Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Shirley Hicks Martin, age 69 of Jefferson, Georgia (Redstone Community) who entered rest Wednesday, December 25, 2024. Mrs. Martin was born in Gainesville, Georgia a daughter of the late William “Bud” Hicks and the late Sarah Bone Hicks. Mrs. Martin was a member of Tyrus Baptist Church and was a retired Para Pro with the Jefferson City School System, a homemaker and loving friend. Most importantly, Mrs. Martin was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, all to whom she was an inspiration and roll model too. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Martin is preceded by her husband, Henry Boyd Martin, Sr., great grandson; Jackson Boyd McDonald. Siblings, Stanley Hicks, Bobby Hicks, Virginia Seeley and Connie Bettis.
Survivors include her children, Henry Martin (Felicia) of Athens, Sherry Hawkes (Michael) of Danielsville, Brian Martin (Candy) of Jefferson, Melissa Bond (James) of Toccoa. Sister, Pam Faulkner (Craig) of Llula, brother, Eddie Hicks (Janie) of Danielsville. Grandchildren, Jasmine, Jessica, Blake, Rebecca, Cody (Brooklyn), Casadie, Sabrina, Allison (Harrison), Brayden (Jessica), Marissa, Faith, Destiny, Alexis (Davante), Madison and Steven. Great – Grandchildren, Ava, Grayson, Asher, Mariah, Tianna, Emma, Connor, Brix, Nova, Arie, and two on the way.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 28, 2024 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Reverend Sara Pearson and Reverend Jimmy “Roger” Peck officiating with burial to follow in Woodbine Cemetery. Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are Henry Martin, Brian Martin, Blake Martin, Brayden Watkins, Michael Hawkes, Cody Hawkes, Harrison McDonald, and Steven Faulkner. The family will receive friends at Evans Funeral Home, Friday, 4:00 - 8:00 P.M., Saturday, 10:00 - 2:00 P.M..
