It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of James “Ryan” Thrailkill, who departed this life on December 3, 2024 at the age of 51 due to complications from kidney disease. Born on April 17, 1973, in Atlanta, Georgia, Ryan was a devoted son, husband, father, brother, Uncle and friend.
Ryan graduated from Henderson High School where he was a star athlete and was awarded a baseball Scholarship to Dekalb College where he went on to become a Jr. College All American. He continued his education at Valdosta State University where he would graduate with a bachelor’s degree in criminal science. At VSU, Ryan was an active member of the Sigma Nu fraternity and continued to pursue his athletic dreams as a dedicated player on the university's baseball team. His passion for sports extended beyond his college years, as throughout his life he remained an ardent supporter of the Atlanta Braves, the Atlanta Falcons and the University of Georgia Bulldogs.
Ryan is survived by his beloved wife, Katy, and their three children: Jack, Calla and Luke. Ryan also leaves behind two brothers, Rik Thrailkill and Keith Thrailkill and his two nephews, Preston Thrailkill and Camden Thrailkill. He was preceded in death by his mother Lynne Everitt Thrailkill and his father Joseph Sims Thrailkill.
A memorial service to honor Ryan's life will be held at Center Pointe Church in Hoschton, GA on January 12th at 2pm with a visitation on the preceding day January 11th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the GoFundMe account set up to support Luke Thrailkill, Ryan’s precious special needs child.
Ryan’s warmth, generosity, and unwavering support touched the lives of many. His legacy of kindness, passion, and understanding will live on forever in the eyes of his beautiful children and remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
