After a hard fought and courageous battle with cancer and leukemia, Randall C. Long, 78, passed away Sunday, December 22, 2024.
Services are scheduled for Friday, December 27, 2024 at Memorial Park Funeral Home with Chaplain Randy Hechte and Rev. Chris Brock presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Randall was born and raised in Hall County, GA. He attended South Hall High School, Gainesville College and Brooke Army Center at Ft. Sam Houston, TX. He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church and a Scottish Rite.
All his adult life, Randall dedicated himself to public service. He was employed at Hall County Sheriff’s Department, retired from Roswell Police Department, and served 41 years in the Armed Services of the United States in the U.S. Air Force, Air National Guard and U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserves as a Green Beret Combat Medic. He served in Southeast Asia, Kuwait, Afghanistan, and Iraq where he received a Bronze Star for meritorious service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilmer and Lucille Long; his brothers, Charles Holland, Robert Long, Ray Long and sister, Carolyn Edge.
Mrs. Long is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda Long; sisters in law, brothers in law, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, both military and civilian.
