Lynn McKinney Flowers, 66, of Flowery Branch, GA, went Home to Jesus Sunday, December 15, 2024.
Lynn was born September 17, 1958 in Atlanta, GA to Gerald McKinney and Geraldine Ward McKinney. She graduated from Cross Keys High School in Atlanta, Class of 1976, and received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Georgia State University in 1980. Lynn chose to stay at home and teach her children while they were young, then pursued a career in teaching children at Dacula Elementary School. She retired after 17 years as a cherished and well-respected teacher with many of her students visiting her even as they graduated high school.
Her life was the definition of “Self-less”, always reaching out to meet the needs of others. Lynn was compassionate with everyone who knew her, a great listener who comforted those who needed a friend, and a cheerful and thoughtful giver. Her family always knew that Lynn lifted each one of them up to God in her daily prayers. She poured all her energy into her children and grandchildren by making her home a welcome place to all, encouraging their girls to bring their friends home, and being passionate about attending at all the sports events to give her support and encouragement. She loved time spent at the beach and trips to the mountains. Lynn would never complain or express any pain she experienced, even through battling cancer.
Lynn was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law, Fred Flowers; brother-in-law, Lamar Griffin. She is survived by her husband, Donald L. Flowers; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn and Jonathan King, Anna and Daniel Wood, Sarah and Anthony Arndt; grandchildren, Calder King, Colton King, Chandlee Wood, Clayton Wood, Stetson Wood, Ila Grace Wood, Hollis Arndt, Lennox Arndt; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Kevonne McKinney; step sisters, Terri Dunaway, Dixie Griffin; mother-in-law, Grace Flowers; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Allen and Gail Flowers, Bob and Kathy Flowers; several nieces and nephews.
