Cecil Winford Parker, age 72, of Demorest, Georgia went to his Heavenly Home on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at his residence with his family by his side.
Mr. Parker was born on January 19, 1952 in Rabun County, Georgia to the late Homer and Janie Parker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Damon Parker.
Cecil proudly served his country in the National Guard and held a career as a truck driver with Lawson Trucking and Ward Construction. Beyond his profession, Cecil was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Demorest and had a true passion for life’s simpler joys. As an avid fisherman and hunter, Cecil’s love for the outdoors. He was also an exceptional carpenter with a gift for working with wood. Cecil’s greatest legacy, however, lies in the love he poured into those around him. Known as "Papa" to his cherished grandchildren, he will be remembered as a kind-hearted, selfless man who greeted everyone he met with warmth and a willingness to lend a hand. His love and generosity left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Joyce Parson Parker, of Demorest; daughter and son-in-law, Cathy L. and Dennis Dapkus, of Dahlonega; daughter, Laurie Weems, of Clarkesville; sons, Chris Parker, of Clayton; Jimmy Grizzle, of Morriston, FL; sisters, Sandra Chamblee, of Clayton; Sherri Buck, of Jefferson; brother, Greg Parker, of Clayton; twelve grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 20, 2024 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel with Rev. Ricky Ward officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 19, 2024 at the funeral home.
