Mrs. Claudette Thompson Jones, age 88 of Dahlonega, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2024, at her residence following an extended illness.
A graveside service is scheduled for Monday, December 16, 2024 at 3:00 pm in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Jones was born August 27, 1936 in Gainesville, Georgia to the late Claude Thompson and Angie Mae Lee Thompson. She had a long time career in Nursing and was of the Baptist faith.
Our loving mother and grandma passed peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family. Claudette was raised in Hall County, her parents were Claude Thompson and Angie Mae Moore. She graduated from Gainesville High School, then went on to earn her bachelors of science in nursing from Georgia Baptist. She served as an RN for 47 years. She met the love her life, Thomas V. Jones and married in 1957. They went on to have 4 children, 6 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. Claudette and Tommy moved to Dahlonega, Ga in 1990 where they retired in a cabin on the Etowah River. “Grandma” was an artist, a crafter, an animal lover, and a gardener. She will be deeply missed by us all.
Claudette was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Thomas Verlyn Jones and her son, David Jones.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her daughters & sons-in-law, Angie Jones Grindle (Jeff), Dahlonega and Verna Jones Long (Michael), Gainesville, her son & daughter-in-law, Chris Jones (Kelly), Dahlonega, her grandchildren, Brad & Heather Gooch, Nicole & Randall Hanpel, Abby & Dusty Leonard, Taylor & Ashley Jones, Cailan Long, Nicholas Long, Kyle Grindle, Casey & Megan Grindle and Bret & Amanda Butler, her 14 great-grandchildren, her brother & sister-in-law, Stanley & Dee Thompson of Braselton and her sister, Charlotte Robinson of North Carolina.
