Dr. Ina "Sylvia" Crawley, 88 of Gainesville, previously of Atlanta died peacefully Sunday December 8, 2024. In true Sylvia fashion, she fought until the very end.
Born in Ruby, S.C. on September 20, 1936, to Duncan L. Crawley and Ina J. Gibson. She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
Sylvia graduated from Furman University in 1958, the Medical University of S.C. in 1962, and completed her Cardiology fellowship from Emory University in 1968.
Dr. Crawley was Chief of Cardiology at the Atlanta VA Medical Center from 1970-1990, as well as a Professor of Medicine at Emory University. She published many journal articles and book chapters. She retired from private practice with Cardiology of Georgia in 2000. She was a fierce advocate of "her Veterans" and taking care of patients was her life's pride and passion. You would not meet a more dedicated physician.
She enjoyed gardening, her animals, and photography in retirement. Sylvia was a wonderful friend and mentor. She will be greatly missed.
