William Pearson Rogers, 68, passed away peacefully at The Oaks-Limestone in Gainesville, GA on Monday, December 9, 2024 following a lengthy illness.
William (Bill) was born on January 30, 1956 to Robert D. Rogers and Sally Pearson Rogers in Minneapolis, MN. Bill was the third of their five sons.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Tonya Martin Rogers, his daughter Ashley M. Pope (Dr. Lee), two grandsons, Gabriel and Remiel, stepdaughter, Melanie Emmett (Timothy), stepson Matthew Mavros, brothers Peter Rogers (Barb), David Rogers (Lori), Sam Rogers (Michelle), Nephews Matt, Sam, and Andy, Nieces Allison, Stefanie, Betsy and Sarah, and 9 great-nieces and nephews.
Mr. Rogers is preceded in death by his parents and eldest brother, Robert F. Rogers.
Growing up residing on Lake Minnetonka, Bill enjoyed all summer and winter sports including competitive sailing and was thus instilled with a lifelong love of water/boating. A hard worker from youth on, he enjoyed a long, successful career as a professional salesman and manager in the graphic arts/print industry. A loving, supportive, and proud father he often remarked his daughter, Ashley, was his greatest “accomplishment” in life. Bill was quite handy and often found working on home improvement projects. Always a “doer”, he could rarely be found simply relaxing, with the exception of watching UGA football. Bill found time to volunteer in various capacities throughout his life including community and church, as well as serving as board member and president of the HOA for Hidden Harbor in Gainesville, GA, where he resided for more than 20 years. He often amazed those who knew him with his knowledge of little known facts on a plethora of subjects. He never met a stranger and would engage people in conversation even if it were just to say “hello”.
He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered as a “lover of life”, for his booming voice, laughter, and purposefully creating as many memorable moments for loved ones and friends as possible.
A Celebration of Life gathering will take place at a later date for family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Bill’s favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children Hospital, in his honor.
