Shannon Hyde Wilborn, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, entered Heaven on December 7, 2024, surrounded by the family who adored her. After a courageous and grace-filled battle with cancer, she is now at peace.
Shannon shared 23 beautiful years of marriage with her soulmate, Eric Paul Wilborn. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and cherished by their three children, Ethan, Hannah, and Paige. Her children were her greatest joy and inspiration—the very reason she fought so valiantly. Her love for them was as deep as her faith, and her greatest pride was being their mom.
Born on April 9, 1977, Shannon brought joy to the world from the very start. She was the treasured daughter of Craig and Vickie Spruill Hyde and grew up in Dunwoody, GA, before moving to Buford, GA, in 1983. She shared a special bond with her siblings, Brandon Hyde and wife Aimee, and Lana McClure and husband Philip, who will forever cherish her warmth, humor, and boundless love. Shannon graduated from North Gwinnett High School in 1995 and the University of Georgia in 2001, where she cultivated her passion for learning and built lifelong friendships.
Shan and her husband began a life in Flagler County, Florida where she began her career in marketing and motherhood with first child, Ethan. They moved to Virginia Beach where she supported her husband through Regent University School of Law and added another baby to her family. She returned to Georgia where she began her favorite job as a paraprofessional in the Buford City School System, while also welcoming her third child. There, she found her niche working with her amazing friends at Buford Elementary and Buford Academy and being a mother to her three children.
Shannon’s heart was as big as her smile—always open to everyone she met. She had a gift for making people feel seen, valued, and loved. Whether it was through her sweet words, thoughtful gestures, or steadfast faith, she left an indelible mark on every soul she encountered.
Shannon is also survived by her dear relatives: Frances “Nana” Loyd Spruill, Uncle Stan and Aunt Karen Spruill, Jason and Lauren Martin, Kevin and Crystal Spruill, Aunt Anna Hyde, Scott and Jennifer Schlenker, Uncle Denny and Aunt Connie Hyde, Brent and Carrie Holliman, Andy and Aimee Whitt.
She was greeted in Heaven by her cherished grandparents, J.W. Spruill ("Papa"), Lamar and Betty Hyde ("MarMar" and "MeMa"), and her Uncle Jack Hyde. She was also welcomed into Heaven by her father-in-law, Rymon Wilborn, Sr., who loved her dearly. Though our hearts ache with her absence, we rejoice in knowing she is reunited with them, wrapped in eternal peace and joy.
Shannon was also adored by her in-laws: Robert “Pops” and Paula Perkins, Rymon and Julie Wilborn, Sean and Robyn Wilborn, Daren and Lynn Perkins, Derek and Amy Perkins, Drew and Heather Perkins, Uncle Kevin and Aunt Joan Vincent, and all her special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, too numerous to list here.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Church on the Hill. Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather for a time of fellowship to share stories and honor Shannon’s legacy of love and kindness.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to The Block Community Outreach, Inc., an organization close to Shannon’s heart. Contributions can be made at 4600 Nelson Brogdon Blvd., Suite B, Sugar Hill, Georgia 30518, or online at theblockoutreach.org.
Shannon’s life reflected her faith and her love for those around her. Her sweet, loving spirit will be missed by so many, but her legacy of kindness and grace will continue to inspire all who knew her.
