Born on October 15, 1943 in Cumming, Georgia, Mrs. Wilson was the daughter of the late Robert Frank Rider, Sr. and the late Inez (née Tesseneer) Rider. She was a graduate of Gainesville High School and became a talented seamstress, sewing handmade garments for her two daughters for special occasions, and providing alterations at several locations in Gainesville, including the local clothier Saul’s on the Square. In her later years, she served in administrative support roles for the law firm of Hulsey, Oliver and Mahar and the Hall County Planning Department. Mrs. Wilson was of the Baptist faith and had attended several local churches throughout her life. She was a devoted wife and mother, as well as a doting and loving grandmother to her four grandchildren. She also loved cheering on her Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves to victory, frequently offering commentary on their wins and losses.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by her husband of 60 years, Gordon R. Wilson of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Allison P. Wilson-Maher and John F. Maher, and grandson John Francis “Jack” Maher, III, all of Philadelphia; daughter and son-in-law, Fox Gradin (née Amy Wilson) and Olaf Gradin, and grandchildren Balthazar Gradin, Sorscha Gradin and Galio Gradin all of Gainesville; sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Morris Wood of Cumming; brother and sister-in-law, Robert F. and Laura Rider, Jr. of Flowery Branch and a number of nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, great grand-nieces and nephews, and many other loving relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to The Grayson School in Wayne, Pennsylvania or to the Gainesville High School Theatre Department, both of which are meaningful to her grandchildren, to whom she was very supporting and generous.
