Margaret Davenport Strickland

Margaret Davenport Strickland, 92 of Gainesville passed away Monday December 2, 2024, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center after a brief illness.

She was born in Jackson County, Georgia on June 13, 1932. She was the daughter of the late John M. and Lilly Cruce Davenport of Braselton, Ga.

Mrs. Strickland was a graduate of Jackson County High School and class valedictorian. She was a wonderful wife to her husband of 48 years, Robert J. "Bob" Strickland, and mother to her two sons, grandmother and great grandmother. Mrs. Strickland retired from the U.S. Forest Service in 1998 after 34 years of dedicated service. She was an active member of Trinity Presbyterian Church for 66 years and a long-time volunteer at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Mrs. Strickland was predeceased by her husband, Robert J. "Bob" Strickland and her son, John Davenport Strickland of Gainesville, Ga, her parents, her siblings, A.J. Davenport, Alton M. "Pete" Davenport, Frances Cheek and Richard Davenport.

Surviving is her son Robert M. Strickland (Charlotte), grandson, R. Michael Strickland (Amber), and great grandson, Robert M. Strickland, III all of Clinton, SC.

Funeral services will be held Thursday December 5, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. Rev. Boone Strickland will officiate. Interment will follow in the Alta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.
