Tommy Cowart, age 85 of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2024.
Mr. Cowart was born on September 5, 1939, in Robertstown, Georgia, to the late Vick and Paralee Cowart. In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by his sisters, Virginia London, Martha London, Marie Allen, and Ellen Franklin. Tommy retired from the Department of Transportation in 1989, after 34 years of service. He was also a past Master of the Yonah Masonic Lodge #382 of Cleveland, Georgia. Tommy loved trucks and tractors and anything you could move dirt with. He was a member of Union Baptist Church. He accepted the Lord as his savior as a child and he and Sue got baptized together in the Chattahoochee River in late June of 1970.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Willie Sue Brown Cowart; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Johnnie Cowart; daughter, Leslie Hughes; grandchildren, Jessica and Stanley Dodd, Susie and Will Jackson, Priscilla and James Reagin, T.J. and Allison Cowart, Courtney Elliott and Aaron Rogers, Christy and Reid Watson; great-grandchildren, Sage Reagin, Jame Reagin IV, Bo Dodd, Ella Cowart, Alayna Cowart, Mae Dodd, Ava Jackson, Nora Jean Cowart, Charlee Watson; sisters, Barbara Thurmond, Janie Blackburn, Cheryl Mize; brother-in-law, James Brown.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at The Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Kyle Savage and the Rev. Doug Merck will officiate. Interment will follow in Gateway Memory Park.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:30 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home, prior to the funeral service.
