On Saturday, November 30, 2024, Shelby Hendrix, 79 years old, of Cleveland went quietly into the arms of her Savior. She was resting quietly at home under the care of Northeast Georgia Medical Center Hospice, surrounded by family. She was a wonderful mother and the Godliest woman that you would ever meet. She was known for her love of Jesus, family, missions and children. Her goal was to always share Jesus with anyone she met.
Shelby loved to travel. She traveled with her husband, Gerald, to many places with his work. She went to Brazil, Spain and Ukraine on mission trips. In her 8 trips to the Ukraine, she left a piece of her heart every time she went. She also was a huge ambassador for Operation Christmas Child through Samaritan's Purse. Preparing, shipping and organizing those sweet shoeboxes was something she looked forward to every year.
She loved working with children and 4-year-olds were probably her favorite. She taught at WEE School at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Greensboro North Carolina for several years and loved those children as if they were her own. She loved teaching Mission Friends and GA's on Sunday and Wednesday nights at church as well. Sharing Jesus and missions was her passion.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald Hendrix, her children, Pam (Bo) Kennedy of Salisbury, Maryland, her son Jeff (Ashley) Hendrix of Thomasville, North Carolina. Her grandchildren, Kyle (Abby) McManus of Hanover, Maryland, Tonya McManus of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and Kaleb Kennedy-Hendrix of Salisbury, Maryland. Her great-grandchildren- Elizabeth, Matthew, Brandon, Dylan and Mia of North and South Carolina.
