Laura Dixon Stancel, 63, of Dacula, GA, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2024.
A celebration of Laura’s life will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at 4 PM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Larry Wynn officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance on Saturday, November 30, 2024, from 4 PM to 8 PM at the funeral home.
Laura fought against the challenges of diabetes for 38 years, along with a myriad of health obstacles, including a year-long battle with MRSA blood infection before ultimately resting at the feet of Jesus. She is finally pain-free and eternally healed. For that, all who knew her are deeply grateful, although wounded and profoundly heartbroken in her absence.
Ever the supporter of the shield and police wife through and through, Laura devoted herself to caring for the home and raising the children while Jerry worked days, nights, weekends, and holidays during his 28 years of police service. After his retirement, her dream of travel became a reality, and to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary, they embarked on a once-in-a-lifetime RV trip through the Midwest. This milestone journey was followed by countless visits to North Georgia, Cades Cove, and their land in Tennessee. Her love for adventure was shared with her family through many unforgettable journeys; from NYC to the Grand Teton. However, her true passion in life was her husband, kids & grandkids, Coca-Cola, Widget, and above all, Jesus.
Laura’s warmth, generosity, and love for her family left an indelible mark on all who knew her. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, Mimi, sister, and friend whose life was filled with love, laughter, kindness, and a spirit of sassiness only she could pull off.
Laura is survived by her dutiful and doting husband of 43 years, Jerry Stancel; son, Jordan Stancel (Jenny); daughter, Sarah Austin (James); grandchildren, Kinsley (11), Killian (8), Jameson(6), and Jeremiah (2); sister, Lisa (Hal); sister-by-choice, Jackie (Greg); sister-in-loves, Judy (Mark), Joy (Davey); brothers-in-law, Philip (Barbara), Dennis; special mention, niece, Nicole. Preceded in death by her parents, JB and Sara Dixon; in-laws Cline and Lucy Stancel; sister-in-law, Melinda; niece, Natalie; great-nephew, Zane; and Widget (spoiled, loyal and beloved Shih-tzu)
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Honor Mimi, a college fund for her beloved grandchildren, ensuring her legacy of love and care continues for generations to come.
