Paul Eugene Smith

Mr. Paul Eugene Smith, 88, of Gainesville, passed away Monday, November 25, 2024 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center – Braselton.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 29, 2024 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Darryl Womack, Rev. Danny Evans and Rev. Marty Darracott will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Born on August 18, 1936 in Cleveland, GA, he was the son of the late Paul Young and Louise Cantrell Smith. Mr. Smith retired from Chicopee Manufacturing where he worked as a loom fixer and operated the boiler room. Mr. Smith was a member of Montgomery Memorial Baptist Church. He was a 50 year member of the Gainesville Masonic Lodge #219 F&AM.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his son, Charles E. “Chuck” Smith; daughter, Robin Elizabeth Crain; brother, Hoyt Smith (Polly); sisters, Betty Stacy (Billy), Emma Miller(Buddy), and Peggy Evans; grandson, Bradley Crain; and granddaughter, Tiffany Smith.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Shirley Floyd Smith of Gainesville; brother, George Smith of Dallas, TX; daughter in law, Donna Smith of Gainesville; brother in law, Danny Evans (Mary) of Gainesville; grandchildren, Joy and Adam Walker, Brian and Anna Crain; great grandchildren, Alex Walker, Cassidy Crain, and Mary Beth Crain; and a number of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
