Mr. Thomas Ray Estes, age 79 of Clarkesville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at Bountiful Hills Senior Living in Commerce, Georgia.
A son of the late Don Henry Estes and Velma Potts Estes, he was born October 6, 1945 in Jackson County, North Carolina having lived most of his life in Habersham County, Georgia. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from HEMC with 30 years of service. He was a member of Habersham Baptist Church where he served as a bus driver at the church. He was a member of Currahee Gun Club and a founding member of Eastanollee Gun Club. He loved to work on cars and antique cars and loved to hunt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Estes.
Survivors include his wife of the home, Glenda Miller Estes; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Orville Bolemon of Royston, Georgia; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lee and Krista Estes of Jefferson, Georgia and Russell James Estes and Candice Estes of Royston, Georgia; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Peggy Estes of Clayton, Georgia; sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Alec Nicholson of Toccoa; a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 23, 2024, 2 o’clock p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Doug Porter officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Josh Newsom, Jesse Bolemon, Kyle Johnson, James Estes, Lee Estes, Michael Estes, Joel Ayers, Caz Stewart and Jake Ayers.
The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Friday, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.
Interment will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens, Demorest, Georgia with Military Honors by the U.S. Army Honor Guard and the Grant-Reeves Veterans Honor Guard.
