Jack C. Bell passed away on November 17, 2024, at Northside Forsyth Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born April 2, 1940, to the late Cy and Lillian Milledge Bell. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Milledge Bell of Gainesville.
He is survived by his wife, Sally Smalley Bell, niece Leigh Brown (Shane) of Flowery Branch; nephew Chuck Boggs of Japan; great niece Emily Breedlove (Tyler) of Flowery Branch, brother-in-law Derrell G. Smalley of Dahlonega, sister-in-law Joan Fulmer (Olin) of Gainesville, Virginia Edmonds (Buddy) of Macon, niece Morgan Holley (Andrew) of Decatur, nephew Sam Griffin of Boone, North Carolina, Adam Griffin (Joanna) of Macon, Olin Fulmer IV (Ann) of Flowery Branch and Griffin Fulmer (Cielle) of Roswell as well as seven great nieces and great nephews.
Jack was a stellar, three sport athlete at Gainesville High School (Class of 1958), the University of Georgia and the University's law school (Class of 1964) wherein he began his private practice of law in Gainesville.
Never leaving his beloved sports, he was a referee for basketball, football and umpire for baseball for sixty years. He was an avid sports fan and a twenty-year volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
Jack's family will greet friends on Thursday, November 21, at Little & Davenport Funeral Home in Gainesville from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to Eagle Ranch, Meals on Wheels or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
