Shirley June Cummins Phillips
1/26/1935-11/11/2024
Shirley June Cummins Phillips, the mother to 4 children, Jack Horner (deceased); Cynthia Wunderlich, of Jasper, Indiana; Janis Kirchner of Buford, Georgia; and Denise Phillips of Columbiaville, MI, passed away on November 11, 2024, in Buford Georgia. She was surrounded by family at the time of her passing.
She was born in Washington, Pennsylvania, in 1935, to Arthur C. Cummins and Ethel M. Carpenter Cummins, and was a graduate of Claysville High School.
Shirley had a wicked sense of humor. She was an avid baker, gardener, reader and lottery ticket scratcher. She was also known to be a meticulous housekeeper, and in her later years, a secret treat provider to the family pets.
She enjoyed working puzzles, drinking coffee and bird watching. She had an extensive Salt & Pepper shaker collection and was constantly on the lookout for the next new find. She loved watching the Pittsburgh Steelers but probably not as much as she hated Tom Brady and seeing squirrels on the bird feeders.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Ethel, her son Jack, and siblings James, Frances, Robert (Bob), Betty, Mary, Judy, Charles and Maureen, and is survived by sisters Dorothy and Mona; daughters Cynthia, Janis and Denise; grandchildren, Michelle, Jerod, Justin, Stephanie, Stephen, Lindsay, Natalie, CJ, China, Lacey and Britton; 10 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
A celebration of life to take place in Washington, PA will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a local hospice organization or animal rescue agency.
