Lane Fletcher Oliver

Lane Fletcher Oliver, age 83, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2024 in Brevard, North Carolina.
Lane was born in Clermont, Georgia on July 10, 1941 to Marjorie Pitchford Oliver and Fletcher Robert Oliver.

He was a 1959 graduate of North Hall (GA) High
School and served six years in the US Air Force.
After an honorable discharge from Andrews Air Force base,

Lane remained in Washington, DC and worked for the US Department of the Interior. Lane met
Tom Atkins, his life partner, in DC and they were together for more than 40 years.

Lane and Tom relocated to Pompano Beach, Florida in 1977 and Lane worked for Brooks Brothers in Ft. Lauderdale. In 1996, they moved to Brevard and Lane
was employed at the Biltmore Estate Winery Shop and volunteered at Number 7 Arts.

Lane and Tom enjoyed traveling but were always glad to return home to the mountains of Western North Carolina.

Lane made numerous friends in every phase of his life and delighted in preparing delicious meals and sharing them with friends and family. He enjoyed watching all sports on TV and was a longtime Washington Redskins fan.

Lane consistently had Pugs as his canine companions, however, he is survived by his beloved rescue of four years, Jinx.

Lane was predeceased by his parents, his life partner, Tom Atkins, his sisters, Peggy Joyce Oliver Lattanzi and Mary Jane Oliver Rowley, and brothers- in -law,
A.D. Joe Lattanzi and Harold Rowley.

Lane is survived by niece Gina Lattanzi Skelton (John) and niece Cheryl Rowley,nephews Joe Lattanzi, Darryl Rowley (Dawn), Ricci Lattanzi and Tony Lattanzi
(Jenni), great nieces and nephews Joseph Lattanzi, Jenna Lattanzi Prokopovich (Eric), Brette Rowley Cox (Jamie), Chris Rowley (Abby), Sara Skelton Singer
(Gideon), Grey Skelton (Emma), Matthew Lane Lattanzi (Shelby), Reid Lattanzi, and Olivia Lattanzi.

Lane is also survived by great- great nieces Elliott, Reese, and Sophie and great- great nephew Hudson, in addition to many precious cousins and dear friends.

The family wishes to thank Tore’s Home, CarePartners Hospice, and the staff of the Transitional Care Unit of Transylvania Regional Hospital, especially Marcus
Dodson, for their compassionate and excellent care of Lane.

We are grateful to David Shepherd for providing care and companionship.

The family and friends of Lane Oliver will gather to celebrate his life at a later date.
