Jimmy Lee Shirley, Sr.

Mr. Jimmy Lee Shirley, Sr., 84 of Lula, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2024 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2024 in the Chapel of Memorial Park funeral Home. Rev. Zack Williams and Rev. Jon Smith will officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Wednesday, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Born on June 26, 1940 in New Holland, GA, he was the son of the late George Flemon Shirley, Sr. and the late Sally Wright Shirley. He was retired from Atlanta Gas Light Co. and a member of Airline Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Shirley was preceded in death by his brothers, Fred, Ralph, O.P., Vick, Alvin, Gene, Robert and George and sisters, Sarah Patterson and Lucille Carter.

Mr. Shirley is survived by his wife of 64 years, Peggy Webb Shirley; daughter and son in law, Angela and Randy Smith of Lula; son and daughter in law, Jimmy Lee Shirley, Jr. and Denise of Hollywood, FL; grandchildren, Steven Smith (Kristan) of Lula, Katy Perdue (Nate) of Clermont, Jonathan Smith (Emma) of Flowery Branch, Nick Bolton of Hollywood, FL, Megan Shirley of Hollywood, FL, Michael Shirley of Lula, Matthew Shirley of Hollywood, FL; great-grandchildren, Isla Perdue, Lily Smith, Layla Chambers, Addison Chambers and a number of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
