Pinkney “Pink” Townley, 96, of Oakwood passed away Monday, November 4, 2024 following a period of declining health.
Born November 21, 1927 in Dawson County to the late Lee and Florence Townley, he had lived in Hall County for the past 25 years. Pink formerly worked for the U. S. Army Corp of Engineers in the Great lakes and Ohio River Division. He worked from the St. Lawrence Seaway down the Ohio River Valley to the Tennessee and Cumberland Rivers. He helped build the Eisenhower Locks and Dam near Massena, NY. Later in life he owned Townley’s Remodeling. Pink was an avid NASSCAR fan and enjoyed gardening, canning and travel. A member of Harmony Baptist Church, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Virginia Townley; and 9 sisters and brothers.
Surviving are his son, Chris Townley and his fiancé Anita Maxwell, Gainesville; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, December 1, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. at Harmony Baptist Church.
