Gordon (Gordie) Fitch Grass age 85 of Buford, GA, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.
Gordie was born in Middleton, New York on March 7, 1939. He graduated from Plattsburgh (NY) High School and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from Hobart College. Gordie played baseball and football and wrestled at Hobart. He received a Master of Science in Education from Buffalo State.
Gordie was married to Alice Miriam Stoldt on June 16, 1962. They were married 62 years. Gordie and Alice raised their family in New York, Maryland, Massachusetts then settled in Georgia.
After a varied working career, Gordie worked as a Regional Sales Manager for Lista International Corporation for 29 years. He enjoyed tennis, golf and playing bridge. Gordie sang in church choirs most of his life and sometimes taught Sunday School.
Gordie is survived by his wife, Alice and his three children: Wende, Kevin and Steven. His grandchildren are Alisha, Brenna Kate, Charlie, Mac, Lila, Sam. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Irma Grass.
Gordie is preceded in death by his parents, George and Florence (Fitch) Grass; brother, George Grass; sister, Ruth Bartels; and niece, Laura Grass.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 9th at 2 pm at Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church in Dacula, GA. Senior Pastor Wendy Jones and Senior Associate Pastor Jason Mincey of HMUMC will be officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. There will be a reception after the service. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Memorial Park South.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church.
